Emily Bebenek: Emily Bebenek is a seventh grade student at MBJH. She is a volunteer at the local Humane Society. She plays the flute, loves to read, write, and play with her dog. Her talk is about Animal Rights Awareness. She hopes that one day no animals will be abused.
Donald Clayton: Donald Clayton is in his second year as principal of Mountain Brook Junior High. He has served students as an educator since he began teaching American History and coaching basketball 12 years ago. Donald’s passion is being the best father to Carter (4 years old) and Caroline (18 months old) he can be and the best husband to Kelly he can be. Other than family time, Donald is a basketball junkie, loves playing tennis and following professional tennis, being active in his church, and reading as much as his busy life will allow. His talk is centered on taking the time to eliminate the overly busy parts of our lives and focus on what matters: our relationships with others.
Blake Fields: Blake Fields is a ninth grade student at MBJH. His interests include performing arts, hanging out with friends, and doing well in school. His talk is about his experiences being bullied and urging others to try and stop bullying.
Henry Gaede: Henry Gaede is a ninth grade student at MBJH. His interests include fly fishing, hunting, and playing sports. His talk is about wetland conservation.
Robert Goolsby: Robert Goolsby is an eighth grade student at MBJH. He plays the trumpet and upright bass. He loves reading, and his favorite book is The Book Thief. His talk is about language immersion, and he hopes to change the way we teach language in our schools.
Mason Hemstreet: Mason Hemstreet is a ninth grade student at MBJH. His interests include playing sports and video games, listening to music, and being outside in nature. His talk is about police response time.
Wilson Higgins: Wilson Higgins is a ninth grade at Mountain Brook Junior High. He enjoys playing sports and xbox with his friends. His talk is about different ways we can show our appreciation to our soldiers.
Claire Kimberlin: Claire Kimberlin is an eighth grade student at MBJH. Her interests include spending time in the outdoors and playing basketball. Her talk is about food deserts.
Evan Pezant: Evan Pezant is a junior at Oak Mountain High School. He is a singer/songwriter and guitarist, and his passion is music and performance. Ever since he was five years old, he has been drawn to singing. He first started performing at the age of seven with the children’s choir. Ever since that first performance, he knew he wanted to become one of the greats. He then became a member of the Birmingham Boys Choir and trained under Ken Berg.
Chip Porter: Chip Porter is an eighth grade student at MBJH. He loves to play guitar and listen to Led Zeppelin. His talk is about how to control and overcome fear.
Nina Reeves: Nina Reeves, a Mountain Brook Resident who just celebrated her 90th birthday, is infamous for her storytelling. Previously the Youth Director for the Methodist Church in the North Alabama Conference for over 40 years, Nina has influenced and empowered youth not only with her storytelling, but with her leadership. A fan of Appalachian stories, Nina will share the art of storytelling with TEDxYouth@MBJH.
